"When I joined Ken Mason (aka Pie or The Magpie) was Housemaster, and R.Coley was House Captain, having taken over from M C Boyce, now known as Lord Boyce and former Chief of Defence Staff. Jeremy Eyre was House Tutor, and taught Latin and Greek. Choppo (Canon Howard) was Headmaster. In my first term, he advised me that my personal priorities should be “to pray hard, play hard and work hard” in that order."

"September 1960 saw us move to the new house and I had the privilege of becoming House Captain complete with my own study! Mr Mason (fondly known as 'Magpie') took over as House Master. The Headmaster (Canon Howard) invited me to design the House Crest which gained approval from the College of Heraldry and I am thrilled to see still being used. "
