Hurst Foundation had a quick catch up with James Dunford and Emma Binns (Head Boy and Head Girl of 2022) before the Leavers' Ball.
How was UVIth?
We asked Emma how she had found sixth form at Hurst; 'I loved UVIth. I was living with my best friends which gave me a step into university life and we are a very close year group.
James commented 'We were lucky to escape COVID-19 for UVIth as LVIth was disruptive. It has been a lot of work but a great year and a very busy one! St. Johns had been good socially, living together, and I have enjoyed all his chosen subjects – photography, BTEC Sports Science and Sociology.
What are your plans for the future?
'I have applied to join the army and have had an offer accepted at Durham to study criminology.' James
'I am taking a gap year, hopefully to travel and work and have applied to be an air hostess for British Airways. I would like to travel to Asia and Amsterdam and then after the gap year, I'd like to do politics and international relations at Nottingham University.'
What career would you like?
James mentioned that he likes the idea of being a detective, or in the M15. Anything in the defence sector whilst Emma would like to be a political journalist and a yoga teacher on the side. Emma currently runs the very popular yoga club at school.
What is your advice for the next heads?
Emma – Stay real. You are voted in because of who you are and your authenticity.
James – Get involved. The school offers a lot, especially co-curricular. This will enable you to meet more people and overall become a better head.
After an amazing Leaver's Ball, we thanked Emma and James for talking to us and wished them well in their next chapter. Keep logging in to the Foundation website to see what all of our OJs are up to, from the Class of 1982, and much earlier, to the Class of 2022!
