This past Saturday, Hurst College hosted its highly anticipated 175th Reunion, a celebration that brought together OJs across the years for a day of reconnecting, reminiscing, and rejoicing in the spirit of the College. Blessed by fantastic weather, a stark contrast to the rain-soaked days leading up to the day, a memorable occasion was enjoyed by all.
Dominic Mott's inspiring talk in the New Bury Theatre set the tone for the day, blending reflections on Hurst’s rich history with an exciting vision for the future. If you would like to take another look at the presentation please click here
The campus tours followed, offering a chance for visitors to rediscover familiar places while exploring the newer, state-of-the-art facilities that now complement the College’s historic charm. An exhibition of stunning oil paintings of Hurst was a highlight, drawing admiration from many guests who marveled at the artistry that captured the essence of the College.
The day’s relaxed atmosphere continued with tea and cake served in the Common Room and then, as the day moved into evening, OJs enjoyed the Evensong service and address by The Reverend Canon Justin White, Senior Provost of the Woodard Schools, a time of reflection and gratitude to Nathaniel Woodard and the generations of students and staff who have contributed to making Hurst what it is today. The procession of House banners added a ceremonial touch to the service and big thanks go to those OJs who offered to hold their old House banner.
The event concluded with a celebratory glass of Hurst's 175th Anniverary sparkling wine and a wonderful three-course dinner in the Dining Hall.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special celebration. We look forward to seeing you all again soon as we continue to build on the proud legacy of Hurst. Floreat Hurst!
