As we continue sharing Hurst’s cherished Christmas traditions throughout December, this week we turn to the beating heart of our festive celebrations – the Chapel.
From joyful nativities to candlelit carol services, the Chapel is the focal point of Christmas at Hurst. This year, a 26-foot Christmas tree (our tallest yet!) set the scene for our festive season filled with music, reflection, and community spirit.
Each year our Prep School children bring the story of the birth of Jesus to life in their nativity performances, a tradition that warms hearts year after year. As the days draw closer to Christmas, the atmosphere shifts to the serene beauty of our evening carol services, where the Chapel glows with candlelight.
Following the end of term, we hold a Foundation Carols by Candlelight service – our most popular Foundation event – with over 400 attending on Thursday 11th December this year. This firm favourite in the Hurst community’s festive calendar brings together alumni, their families, staff and friends of the College for an unforgettable evening of music and reflection.
These moments are more than events – they are part of what makes Christmas at Hurst so special. For generations, the Chapel has been a place where pupils, staff, and families gather to celebrate, reflect, and share in the joy of the season.
It simply wouldn’t be Christmas without the magic of Hurst’s Chapel traditions.
