A message from Grace McKenzie, our new Director of Futures

Grace joined our vibrant Hurst community in the newly formed role of Director of Futures last term. She would like to reach out to members of the Foundation, and writes as follows:

"We hope that by fusing the award-winning Careers Department and outstanding Higher Education Team into one Futures Team, working across the whole College, we can make even greater strides in helping our young people make the right choices at every age, to maximise their opportunities and fulfil their unique potentials.

I would like to reach out to members of the Foundation to ask for your expertise, your insights, and your contacts, to support a full and diverse range of Futures programme across the College.

Hurst Work Experience Programme

We are now setting up work experience placement partners for summer 2024. Would you be able to take on a very willing, interested and engaged L6th student for some work experience in July or August this year?

Digital Careers Platform

Profession Ambassadors – share a brief overview of your current role. Would you be happy to be contacted by pupils to enable them to find out more about your role and the industry you work in?

Speed Talks

Can you help our students gain a wider perspective of different careers by hosting a video call with other alumni/OJs in your sector in the format of a ‘Speed Talk’?

Careers events

Could you take part in an assembly or workshop to share your career journey and subject/industry expertise with our pupils?

Do you recruit, interview or develop colleagues in the early stages of their career? Hurst is looking to gather a panel of experts to help us 'build the most employable career starter imaginable', and use this model to prepare our Sixth Form for their future.

If you would like to take part in any of the above, please do let me know"
