The OJ Club
Welcome to the OJ Club
Founded in 1877, the OJ Club's mission is to uphold the lasting bonds and camaraderie between former pupils of Hurstpierpoint College. As the oldest continuously running school alumni association in the UK, the Club traces its history back to the founding of Hurst itself in 1849, and every Hurst alumnus becomes a member automatically.
Today the OJ Club reaches OJs across the world, from recent leavers to those decades out of Hurst. A broad range of societies, sporting, professional and social, sit at the heart of the Club, giving OJs of every generation the chance to reconnect. The Club also offers a full calendar of events, including reunions, dinners and socials, alongside the annual Foundation Magazine, Floreat.
I hope you like our website- it's come a long way in the past four years! It's a live document, a work in progress, so please do engage with me if you have any suggestions that would further improve it.
Likewise, if you want to get involved in the OJ Club Committee, have suggestions for events, get-togethers or activities do please give me a shout.
The OJ Club has thriving Golf and Cricket Societies, each with a range of matches and meetings throughout the year. Whether you’re a competitive player, looking to explore a new interest, or simply connect with fellow OJs, the clubs offer the chance to be part of a thriving community.
Each Society has its own organiser, whilst the Foundation website provides members with the facility to register to play in upcoming fixtures and find out further information about the Society's activities.
The OHJ Golf Society welcomes players of every standard. Please email Graham Negus graham_negus@hotmail.com if you would like to join the golfers. There is an nominal annual fee of £20 which we will ask you to pay in due course.
The OHJ Cricket Society also welcomes players of every standard. Please email Tom Moulton moulton_thomas@hotmail.com if you would like to join the cricketers.
In the meantime, join the Cricket and Golf online website groups by clicking on the link below, which will give you details of forthcoming matches.
There are a number of other sports clubs and societies for OJs to join.
These Clubs do not have their own organiser but allow OJs with common interests to share news with each other.

Are you planning to travel overseas or undertake further education, and would financial assistance help? The OJ Club Travel Fund may be able to support you.
How to apply:
Applicants are asked to provide full details about themselves and their proposed trip: how long they plan to be away, the costs involved, and why the travel will be of benefit to them. Applicants should also explain what else they are doing to raise funds for their venture, and provide supporting documentation from any organisation involved in the visit.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by members of the OJ Club Committee. Once the panel's recommendations have been discussed and ratified, all candidates will be informed whether their application has been successful.
Successful candidates are required to submit a 500-word report, along with 5 to 10 photographs showing both themselves and the destination, for publication in the annual Floreat Magazine.
Purpose:
The fund was set up by the OJ Club to give financial assistance to OJs travelling overseas, particularly for those undertaking specific projects during a Gap Year. It isn't limited to school leavers, OJs in further education and beyond are also eligible for grants.
The aim of the travel must be educational or charitable. The fund does not exist to cover holidays undertaken purely for pleasure.
Applications:
Applications open in the New Year, with a deadline in late February. Interviews take place at the College in March, and applicants are informed of the Committee's decision as soon as possible. For full details and this year's deadline, contact the Foundation at hurstfoundation@hppc.co.uk.
