The Hurstpierpoint putting team of Chris Hobbs, Dan Burstow, Christian Wimshurst and Tom Fairfax, all current Halford Hewitt players, turned in a first class performance in the annual schools putting competition on the famous putting green at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club. The team finished third out of the eight schools in the Draw on Thursday evening, the 5th June, playing against Canford, Dollar Academy, Epsom, Malvern, Rugby, Tonbridge and Whitgift.

Each player in the Hurst team had 4 wins but the best result from our team was our Society Captain for 2025, Tom Fairfax, who scored 9 points with 4 wins and one draw.

Canford and Malvern, the top two scoring teams for the evening, with 38 and 36 points respectively against Hurst with 33 points, proceed to the Final next week. The bottom two sides of the evening, Dollar and Tonbridge, suffer relegation and are excluded from the event for two years!

The weather was perfectly managed with dull overcast skies from 5pm until 8.30pm when the last putt was struck just before a heavy downpour. By then the Hurst team were in the Royal Wimbledon clubhouse enjoying a curry buffet accompanied by a bottle of French red.
