Bishop Colin James of Winchester opened St John’s House on 5th March 1992 in a private ceremony with David Clark becoming the first housemaster. There are now two HOMs, one male and one female.
In 2021, St John’s was extended further to accommodate the requirements of a larger Upper Sixth, 175 last September. With an ‘Annex C’ creating 11 new bedrooms for students, some gap student accommodation and an all-important new plant room to cope with increased demand, Phase 2 of this development will continue this Summer to create a further 22 new student rooms and a 2-bedroom staff flat.
As a well appointed building, its common room has become the focus of a lively social life including plenty of entertainment for the sixth formers including table tennis, darts, pool table, a bar area and table football.
