Chevron Chance Meeting in Oxford

Over 50 years since leaving Hurst, Stephen found another Chevron OJ living downstairs!

After graduating Jake Liebers (Chevron - 2017), and his girlfriend Kate, were looking for somewhere to rent in Oxford as they had both got jobs in town and they found a lovely flat in north Oxford on Zoopla. After moving in last July, it was after a few months of renting the basement flat below Stephen and Paulette's house that Jake discovered his landlord Stephen Eeley (Chevron - 1964) was at Hurst too, and in the same house!

Jake goes on to say that he and Stephen have swapped lots of stories about their times at Hurst and last December, they returned to Hurst together for the Carols by Candlelight service. He also mentioned that there are quite a few Old Johnians in and around Oxford, either studying or working, so Jake and Stephen are discussing the possibility of organising a dinner for OJs. Jake even coaches a Hurst alumna, Lottie Keys (Fleur - 2020) at Hertford College Boat Club. It's a small world indeed!
