After training at St John’s College, Durham, Michael came to Hurst in 1990 to teach Classics and later Latin. His wife Chrisine later joined him and taught French and Spanish from 1994-96 and was also House tutor of Shield. After leaving teaching at Hurst they remained residents in the village and Michael often acted as unofficial assistant to the College Chaplain as well as taking services in local parishes when there was a need. Michael died on Friday 14 April 2023.
A private family funeral has already taken place but there is to be a celebration of his life and ministry to be held at Holy Trinity Church Hurstpierpoint on Tuesday 4 July at 2pm.
