New year, new HoMs!

With the departure of Mike Lamb, who has become Deputy Head of a Prep School in Nairobi, Kenya (a long-held ambition of his was to work once again in Africa), Rob Ashley is taking over as HoM of St John’s, working alongside Nikki Browne. Many OJs will remember Rob in his former roles – he was Housemaster of Woodard for the past few years and, prior to that, Head of Geography, having joined the school back in 2008. Rob’s place in Woodard will be filled by Will Poole, who has been Head of Year 10 and Head of Digital Learning since joining Hurst in 2016.

Meanwhile, in Star, Sam Amos has taken up the reins due to the promotion of Owain Jones to the role of Head of Middle School (ie the year groups 9-11). Sam has been CCF Contingent Commander and Outdoor Education Instructor at Hurst for the past 5 years and now looks forward to the different challenges running a boarding house brings.

So many girls will remember Bex Jutson. A long time member of the Hurst community, having first joined the school in 2005 as a Sports Coach, Bex has most recently been Assistant Director of Sport, working alongside Rob Kift, encouraging and supporting so many girls’ sporting ambitions over the years throughout the College. She now moves to Shield to become Housemistress, following the retirement of Carey Jones.
