From Hurst to Hollywood: Tabitha Scenic Journey

Tabitha Streater (Fleur - 2017) has carved out an extraordinary career as a scenic painter for stage, TV, and film since leaving Hurst. After leaving Hurst, Tabitha studied Technical Theatre Design Realisation at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she discovered her passion for scenic painting. Her journey has taken her from painting sets for West End productions and opera houses to working on blockbuster films and high-profile collaborations like the Dior x Harrods Christmas display.

Tabitha credits Hurst for giving her the confidence and freedom to explore creative aspirations. “I wasn’t academic and struggled with dyslexia, but my teachers encouraged me to focus on what I loved—painting sets and making props,” she says. That support helped her combine her love of drama and art into a unique career path.

Her work today is fast-paced and varied—whether she’s on set ready for last-minute touch-ups or in the studio creating intricate faux finishes and prepping props. Among her proudest projects are the Dior x Harrods gingerbread-themed Christmas installation and her first major film, Wicked.

Look out for our interview feature with Tabitha in the 2026 Foundation OJ Magazine.
